Our little Serendipity is not so little anymore...
Baby, You've Come A Long Way!
and Amy after a show
came to us from our good friend Terry Oudshoorn and his family of the Buut Vrij
Hoeve kennel in the Netherlands. We are very thankful that they trusted us with
this wonderful girl.
Seri’s Sire is Two Time Belgium Best in Specialty Show winner and American Champion Ealey v.d. Buut Vrij Hoeve. Ealey is a wonderful dog in both temperament and conformation and his movement is often quoted as “like a machine” it is so flawless. He is now over 9 years of age and seems to keep getting better and better. He took BISS the two years in a row at the Belgium National Specialty and took best Bred by Exhibitor in the Dutch Specialty at the age of 7. Ealey came to the US for our National Specialty in Gettysburg and took 4th place in stud dog with Seri and Alex as his get. Ealey was also bred by Terry and family and is out of a Danish dog, Herletta’s Kallahan and a Dutch dog O’Pascha Giona v Burgseeli. Pasha will be 12 years old in December 2005 though seeing her, you'd never guess her to be a day over 6. Pasha took best veteran in her class at the Dutch Specialty in 2003 and the judge commented that even at her age, she could get an excellent out of the open bitch class.
Seri’s Dam is Yndiana Du Bois Bernois. Yndi is a beautiful and substantial girl. She is out of a Belgium Dam (Dixie Uut´t Waarkhuus) and another Buut Vrij Hoeve dog, Gil Gillian v.d. Buut Vrij Hoeve. Yndi now lives in England and recently finished her Championship and took Reserve Best in Show at a recent Specialty. Dixie is alive and well and is currently the oldest dog on the Dutch Veterans list. She will be 13 this fall! Gillian lives in Belgium and is an amazing dog himself as well as a great producer. Gillian has produced many champions and even some Specialty winners. He is alive and well at over 8 years of age. Gillian is out of Iris vd Gelderse Parel and Sennetta’s Kassius, a Danish dog.
Seri is out of some very impressive dogs so it is no surprise she has done quite well in the ring herself. She began her show career in Northern California with a few shows as a puppy. In her 3rd show weekend ever and only 8 months of age, she took Best of Breed over a Nationally rated Special dog. We moved to Michigan shortly thereafter and pulled Seri from the ring for a while to let her grow up a bit more.
In early April 2003, we sent her to our friends in Minnesota to help get her ready for Nationals as Amy was busy raising some puppies and getting Bayley ready for Nationals. In Seri’s first time back in the ring in 5 months and only her 5th weekend showing, Seri took another Best of Breed and her first major. She did well at Nationals, making the “cuts” in each showing though she was upstaged a bit by Bayley.
In May 2003, Seri went to the Ontario and Canadian Specialties. Seri was one of only a handful of bitches to receive an “Excellent” rating by FCI judge and Danish breeder Lisbeth Ramsing in the Sieger show. This was very impressive as Bayley and Einstein only received “Very Good” ratings.
Seri is only a month older than Bayley and she could have been shown in the 12-18 month class at the Canadian Specialties but there only being one Amy, we made the decision to move Seri up to the Open class. Seri made the “cut” in the Open bitch class at the Canadian Specialty under FCI judge and Danish breeder Jens Ramsing. This was quite impressive as there very some very nice girls in this very competitive class and all of them were older than Seri.
The most frequent comment we get from judges about Seri is what a happy girl she is. We often call her Tigger as she is so very agile (able to clear every baby gate, x-pen and Dutch door Amy has installed:-) and she bounces around like Tigger when she's happy, which is just about always.
Amy prefers to show the dogs herself but again, there is only one Amy and there have been other dogs to show so showing Seri has been a group effort. We must express or sincere appreciation to Jenn Pollard, Julie Dunkle and Andrea Dunkle for all their help and accomplishments in showing Seri.
Seri finished her AKC Championship on March 27th, 2004.
Seri's first litter was with Barancourt van de Weyenberg and free whelped 6 puppies (5 males and 1 female) on January 14, 2004. Baran is Bayley's littermate and lives in the Netherlands. He's a beautiful boy and we feel he has just what Seri needs in a mate. Baran has been doing exceptionally well in the show ring in Holland and passed the very difficult Dutch breeding test with very impressive ratings of "Excellent" in both Temperament and Exterior. Baran is currently the top winning Bernese in Europe with a list of titles and Specialty wins too long to list. Seri's children are over a year and a half now and are some of the most impressive and substantial kids I've seen with lovely temperaments. One male from the litter Hickory's Breaking the Ice aka Emmett took Best Senior Puppy in Sweeps at the 2005 US Nationals Specialty in Gettysburg. He recently became major pointed and I'm sure he will easily finish his Championship.
Seri passed both her AKC Canine Good Citizen Test and her Therapy Dog International Certification at the Specialty in Gettysburg.
Seri was bred to Hickory's All Tuckered Out and is due in late September 2005. Tucker has prelim Excellent Hips and Clear Elbows.
Seri has OVC "Unaffected Hips and Elbows" (at 22 months), OFA prelim Good Hips and Clear Elbows (at 22 months), Clear CERF in 7/2005, and OFA Cardio Clear in 11/2003.
Check our Homepage soon for puppy pics and watch for Seri in the show ring as a Special in summer of 2004.
